A blue plaque on the old toll house at Llandafen, sponsored by the present owner of the house, Mr. Anthony Davies, commemorates the nineteenth century system of collecting tolls from traders in order to finance the construction and maintenance of roads connecting producers with market.

Although the front part of the toll house was demolished in the twentieth century, the building has now been lovingly restored by Anthony Davies and he is to be congratulated for a very well executed project which adds to the architectural heritage of Llanelli.

The plaque was unveiled on Friday, 29th September 2017, in the half-hour of sunshine between showers, by Councillor Siân Caiach, Deputy-Chairman of the Rural Council, in the presence of Mayor Jeff Edmunds from the Town Council and members of Llanelli Community Heritage.
